Fertility
Our expert specialists offer the full range of fertility treatments.
OI
Ovulation induction (OI) is a straightforward fertility treatment that involves taking oral or injectable medication to stimulate regular ovulation. The medication is usually taken at the beginning of the menstrual cycle and the body’s response is monitored through the cycle using ultrasound. The clinician can then see when you are due to ovulate and therefore the best time for intercourse or insemination.
IUI
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) simply means inserting sperm directly into the uterus (womb). In natural sexual intercourse, semen is ejaculated into the vagina and the sperm get ‘cleaned up’ as they swim through the cervix into the uterus towards the egg. The IUI procedure mimics this by processing the semen in the laboratory to extract and concentrate the swimming sperm before they are inserted directly into the uterus at the time of ovulation (when the eggs are released from the ovary).
IVF
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) refers to the fertilisation of eggs with sperm in the laboratory. The ovary is stimulated by using daily medication followed by a procedure to extract eggs from the ovary. The eggs are then cultured in a perfect environment and surrounded by a large concentration of healthy sperm to maximise the chance of successful fertilisation. The resulting embryos are monitored, and healthy embryos are frozen on day 5 via and before one is transferred to the uterus at a later date in a procedure known as an embryo transfer. Excess embryos are kept frozen for use in subsequent cycles or for subsequent pregnancies.
ICSI
Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) refers to the technique of sperm injection into an egg to assist with conception. This is performed by an experienced scientist and takes place in the laboratory.
Preconception Screening
Preconception Screening is available to determine whether you are at risk of conceiving a child with a genetic disorder.
Predisposition to genetic disorders can be an added source of concern when trying to conceive, with many couples fearing they may pass on genetic mutations to their children.
Fertility Preservation
Riverina Fertility offers fertility preservation for male and female patients diagnosed with cancer and certain diseases, disorders, and life events that may affect their fertility.
Those who might benefit from fertility preservation include:
Patients about to undergo treatment for cancer (male and female)
Patients with medical conditions (auto-immune diseases such as lupus)
Patients with genetic diseases that affect future fertility.
Fertility preservation (egg freezing) is also available to women who are delaying having children (women who cannot see themselves becoming pregnant for a few years).
Consultation
Riverina Fertility provides individualised care and attention for every client during their journey to parenthood. A thorough medical assessment of both you and your partner, by one of our experienced fertility specialists, will determine if there is an underlying medical problem affecting your fertility, before any treatment pathways are recommended.
Our specialists focus on providing expert treatment based on best practice science to ensure you have the best chance of falling pregnant as quickly as possible.
An initial consultation with one of our specialists will include a series of tests, the results of which will help them recommend a treatment pathway that best suits your needs and circumstances.
Telehealth consulations are also offered for the convenience of patients not able to travel. Please note a GP referral is required for ALL consultations.
